Puritan Cleaners was selected as one of America’s Best Cleaners. America’s Best Cleaners (ABC) is a national organization that strives to locate and recognize the best dry cleaning establishments throughout the United States. “As we find great cleaners, we recognize them as someone customers can trust with their most expensive and delicate garments,” said Chris White of ABC. “Very few get chosen each year.”
Puritan Named Distinguished Retailer Of The Year by Retail Merchants Association Gary Glover, President of Puritan, enters via the red carpet for the Retail Merchants Association Annual Awards celebration. Puritan came away with the top award: Distinguished Retailer Of The Year. High standards in business and extensive charity work were cited as reasons to name Puritan with this accolade. “I’m embarrassed to get this award,” said Glover. “This is for the 180 employees at Puritan. I’m honored to accept it on their behalf.”
Gary Glover, President of Puritan, has been named one of Richmond’s Hometown Heroes by the Allen and Allen law firm. Their website states: “Gary has helped clothe and feed hundreds of Virginians for more than 25 years. His community initiatives have included Coats for Kids, 100,000 Meals for Kids in Central Virginia, Great Bears for Kids in Danger, Puritan’s Pledge of Allegiance, Thank You Patriot, and more.”

Norman Way (left) of Puritan has achieved the title of Certified Environmental Drycleaner from the Drycleaning and Laundry Institute. This program involves a rigorous course of study, followed by a three hour written exam. As a Certified Environmental Drycleaner, Norman can provide up-to-date information on environmental issues and regulations, and will oversee that Puritan maintains the Professional Standards of Certified Cleaners, which helps insure an environmentally safe operation.
Puritan received the Ukrops Community Service Award from Commonwealth Catholic Charities of Virginia. Programs like Coats For Kids, 100,000 Meals for Kids, Great Bears for Kids in Danger, and the Cinderella Project were all sited as great community successes. Gary Glover accepted the award from Bob Ukrop (left) on behalf of Puritan, and credited the Puritan employees as the reason for the success of these programs.
Puritan Cleaners has earned the Award of Excellence for quality garment cleaning and customer service from the Drycleaning and Laundry Institute. The DLI is an association that provides independent verification of service standards in the dry cleaning industry. Puritan passed a rigorous set of cleaning and service evaluations to achieve this status and was the only cleaner to be so honored in the Central Virginia region.
Puritan joined Feed More for the 100K Meals program. Food and cash donations have exceeded the 1,200,000 meal mark over the years. Fay Lohr, former Chief Executive Officer, presents the Hall Of Fame award to Puritan’s Norman Way.
Puritan’s Gary Glover accepts the award from the Virginia Recycling Association. Our customers help us to recycle over 70,000 hangers per month. We offer free hanger caddies at all of our locations. Recycling hangers saves needed land fill space and keeps our environment cleaner.
